About me
Ben Scott is a .NET programmer and web designer, living in Yeppoon, Queensland, on the east coast of Australia. In his spare time he programs and designs. In the rare moments when he isn’t on the computer, he plays guitar, reads hard science fiction and fantasy, cooks, does some photography, and listens to Triple J. He also thinks strongly about going for a bike ride, and may in fact do that some day.
He currently employed at Capricorn Investment Partners, a financial planning company, as a programmer and office network administrator, where he is currently developing and rebuilding their portfolio management system, a C# Forms-based application. Prior to this he was employed at Hospitality Computer Systems as helpdesk manager, and before that he packed groceries and pushed trolleys between the odd IT job.
He develops Windows-based applications using C#, a language developed by Microsoft for the .NET platform. He develops usable and accessible websites using XHTML, PHP, a framework called CakePHP, and a Javascript library called jQuery. He is slowly learning XNA, Microsoft’s new managed game framework, as he has always secretly wanted to be a rock star game programmer. He designs web graphics and does photomanipulation mostly in Fireworks but also in Photoshop.
Last year he married Carrie, which has proven to be a beneficial arrangement. They share a love of reading, internet addiction, and a very demanding but tarty Tonkinese named Bruce. He enjoys speaking of himself in the third person.
